Jim W. Ko
Experience
Jim served as Sr. Program Attorney for The Sedona Conference for a decade, managing the development of content and programs for a non-profit organization dedicated to moving the law forward in a reasoned and just way in the areas of antitrust law, complex litigation, data privacy and data security law, and intellectual property rights. Since leaving The Sedona Conference’s employment, Jim has returned in a volunteer, member capacity to co-chair the Sedona Conference on AI and IP Law in June 2024 and will serve as [ ] for The Sedona Conference’s Working Group on AI Law, set to launch in Jan 2025.
Jim has served as sole in-house counsel for Ubee Interactive, a privately a privately-held business-to-business supplier of broadband connectivity products and solutions to the cable, telecommunications, and mobility markets, headquartered in Taiwan and with offices in the U.S.A. and the Netherlands. Jim also cofounded and served as IP counsel for Kaahma Inc., a startup company that provided automated sentiment analysis and classification of customer service calls.
Jim also most recently served as outside counsel for Wood Phillips, a patent prosecution boutique firm based in Chicago and started his legal career as an IP attorney for the former Howrey LLP in D.C.
Education
Jim has a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law (Class of 2004), an Ed.M. from Harvard Graduate School of Education (Class of 1997), and a B.S. in Biology from Duke University (Class of 1995).

Jim is a licensed attorney by the State Bar of Arizona (Bar No. 038530) and a licensed patent attorney by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (Reg. No. 54,228).
